Your local pub by the fireplace. Seriously, enjoy what we have around us. Lean into that cold dead month and enjoy the downhill ride into Spring and beyond without spending more than the cost of a few pints with people who'll miss you when you're gone.

My old boss used to go Gambia every year. Loved it, and locals used to treat him like a king.

Love Lanzarote. Used to stay at the Santa Rosa apartments near Costa Teguise. It's deceiving Lanzarote. Went in June and had a lovely walk along the beach. Walked back along the road and felt I had been stuck in a desert for three weeks!

Took the family out to Puerto Calero last December which was very nice.

Do you know any similar places in the Canaries either on Lanzarote or elsewhere? Cheers.

Dubai is the Butlins equivalent of the Middle East. If you want a package then fine; I'd recommending flying that extra 45 minutes and stay in Muscat, Oman.

I saw a British Rail poster that said “Have an away day, a cheap holiday, do it today.” I can’t remember where it was, but it was about 12 at night.

Nurse, I just hope I never get stuck behind him at security when they ask him to empty his pockets.

I don’t like it when melancholy is evoked, only to be interrupted by humour.

It never sits right.

Well, who knew you had such a musical disposition, distinction, and taste.

You've read my mind, or spotified my music.

After swanee solo, full orchestra joins. This leads into a glorious brew of marches of the parade ground, the waltzes and polkas of the ballroom, the intermezzos of the silent cinema, the virtuoso novelty numbers of the variety theatre, advertising jingles, football chants, playground rhymes, and public house choirs at closing time.

With the bass note of the whoopie cushion holding the fort.
